The Thecus® Open Source Module Competition Begins!
Thecus is opening the floodgates for new open source modules. With the release of the Thecus software development kit (SDK), third-party developers and adventurous users can get involved in writing their own modules to fit even the most specific needs. This competition is the beginning of building a vibrant Thecus developer community with open dialogue, improved support, and an unlimited range of features that can only be supported by a grassroots society. Everyone will be able to get involved: commercial developers, computer savvy techies, and even basic home users.

The contest runs in two rounds, from June 20th-August 31st and from September 1st-November 30rd. Each module will first be run through stability certification with Thecus’s in-house development team within 10 days of submission. The first 10 submissions to pass this certification will receive a Thecus D0204 DAS. After completing the certification process, the module will be posted in the “I Love Thecus” forum for users to download, test, and vote on. These votes will determine who wins the “People’s Choicest Module” award, a delectable Thecus N2200XXX NAS just dripping with speedy goodness! At the end of each of the two rounds, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners will be selected based on the functionality, ease-of-use, and design.
To make sure that your hard work and time investment aren’t overlooked in that ever dreaded 4th place position, prizes will also be available for the top two modules in each of the following categories: Entertainment/multimedia, backup, general utilities, serving (web/file/print/etc), and security.
